The Psychodynamics of Writing & Presenting
with Nick Barwick
The workshop will explore creative anxiety and writing blocks and how these and other difficulties experienced in producing work as a professional may be linked to underlying unresolved conflicts. The workshop will give attention to means of alleviating anxiety with particular reference to the use of transitional space.
Nick Barwick is a group analyst, psychotherapist and qualified teacher. Head of Counselling at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, he runs groups in private practice and at The Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships. Immediate Past Editor of the journal ‘Psychodynamic Practice’, his publications include ‘Clinical Counselling in Schools’ (Routledge), ‘The Therapeutic Environment’ (OUP) and ‘Group Music Therapy’. He has a particular interest in working with people experiencing creative inhibitions and consults to writers, actors and musicians.
