Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples

Many therapists find working with couples challenging. They struggle to find an approach that offers effective help and support to couples facing distress in their relationship. In response to this, Dr. Susan Johnson has pioneered Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. EFT offers a therapy that is rigorously researched and based upon a science of adult love and attachment. It gives the therapist a clear guide through the confusing drama of couple conflict and distress. EFT recognizes that marital discord arises from the threat to basic adult needs for safety, security and closeness in intimate relationships. The EFT change process has been mapped into a systematic sequence and framework that restructures the interactional patterns that maintain marital conflict. This structure reliably provides couples with a safe and effective path for long term relational healing.

Following the wonderful success of Ireland’s two years of Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples training, we are pleased to announce that the next EFT Externship training will take place from the Thursday 29th January to Sunday 1st February 2015.

EFT has proven to be very popular in Canada, the USA, Europe, the UK and now Ireland. Don’t miss your opportunity to be part of this dynamic and effective training. This training is suitable for both professional therapists and counsellors new to couples therapy and those who already have experience in this field.
