7th Annual Psychoanalytic Film Festival Jan 29-30 at Carmelite Centre (29th) and Collins Barracks (30th).
Dear Colleagues,
The 7th Annual APPI/IFPP Irish Psychoanalytic Film Festival is taking place soon on Jan 29-30 and this year’s exciting theme is ‘Revolutions,’ a theme that not only takes account of this year’s celebration of the centenary of the Easter Rising but also the recently successful marriage equality referendum in which the people of Ireland voted to extend equal rights to its LGBT citizens, but also refers to a state of revolt and change that characterises many important past and current events outside of Ireland. Please find attached the diverse programme and description of films, both Irish and international, of the upcoming festival. The Friday programme (3:00 pm-10:15 pm) takes place at the Carmelite Centre, Aungier St. and Saturday’s programme (10:00 am-5:00 pm) is at Collins Barracks, Benburb St. The keynote speaker on Friday is Trinity College’s Ruth Barton and on Saturday the organisers are delighted to announce the screening of The Queen of Ireland (2015) and the attendance of both director Conor Horgan and the revolutionary queen of Ireland herself and star of the film Rory O’Neill/Panti Bliss for Q&A post-screening.All are welcome and each film is followed by a lively discussion of the psychoanalytic themes raised. We hope to see you there. Registration will be available on each day of the event although we encourage preregistration at carolowensappi@nullgmail.com or evewatson22@nullgmail.com.With good wishes, Film Festival Organising Committee (Olga, Carol, Eve, Michelle)
