The idea of the Conference:
In more than hundred years of its history, psychoanalysis has become an inseparable part of human culture and everyday life. However, our Western colleagues have always known psychoanalysis as something older than any of them, while in Russia psychoanalysis returned to education and culture only 25 years ago after being prohibited for 75 years. Many Russian specialists became acquainted with psychoanalysis in their mature age, and they reconsidered its theoretical approaches and traditions. The main task of the Conference is to analyse contemporary position of psychoanalysis in the world and investments of Russia and Eastern Europe after they returned into international psychoanalytic community.
The Congress offers a truly important, forward-looking and unique platform to discuss, from the vantage point of both Western and Eastern European viewpoints, the development of psychoanalysis in Europe. It will be interesting to look back through the prism of the experiences of Eastern European and western European colleagues to take stock to consider how these developments cast some light on emerging issues in Contemporary Psychoanalysis today.
