Proactive Approach to Engaging Adolescents using Solution Focussed Techniques

Introduction:

This innovative training will explore the integration of a solution focused approach to enhance professional practice with adolescents (11-25yrs). It will offer a space to explore the issues of adolescence and the implications for the engagement with clients in this stage of transition. The training will centre on the use of solution focused techniques as part of a proactive approach to engaging with adolescents.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants with gain an understanding of a proactive approach to working with adolescents
  • Participants will learn about developmental considerations when working with adolescents
  • Participants will learn the tenets of solution-focused therapy in relation to clinical work with adolescents
  • Participants will practice solution focused questions and techniques for goal setting, scaling, and focusing on strengths

Entry Requirements:
This workshop is for mental health practitioners interested in learning more about the subject area.

Facilitator:

Gayle Kearney-Doyle is an Accredited Psychotherapist with a specialisation in Play Therapy and a Clinical Supervisor. She has over 17 year’s experience working with children, adolescents and families. She has experience working in community drug services, therapist in a residential setting for adolescents, clients with learning difficulties, family support, and extensively with children and young people in care.
