The Certificate in Counselling is validated by St. Patricks College Maynooth and is aligned to Level 8 20 ECTS on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)

ACCORD Catholic Marriage Care Service is the largest provider of counselling services to individuals and couples in marriage and relationships, on the island of Ireland

ACCORD has in excess of 50 years experience working with couples and individuals, and provided more than 30,954 sessions of marriage and relationship counselling to 7,492 people in 2016

Closing date for receipt of applications is: May 15th 2017

COURSE DATES: September 30th and October 1st, November 4th and 5th , December 9th and 10th, January 27th and 28th, February 24th and 25th , April 14th and 15th , May 12th and 13th.

This part-time training course takes place over 7x 2-day weekends – Saturday and Sunday from 9.30am -5.30pm in Maynooth Co. Kildare.

This course is designed for those with a qualification in counselling/psychotherapy of Diploma or Degree level, who have completed a minimum of 200 hours supervised client work and have a current supervised caseload. It is also desirable that all applicants have substantial knowledge and experience of the Person Centred Approach

COURSE CONTENT

Training will include:

  • Theory and Practice of Person Centred Counselling.
  • Theories and Practice of Couple Counselling.
  • Couple Counselling Skills Development and Practice.
  • Working Safely and Ethically with Domestic Abuse.
  • Self-Awareness; Personal/Professional.
  • Safe and Ethical Practice.
  • ACCORD’s Code of Ethics and Practice.
  • Models of Supervision.
  • ACCORD’s Policies and Procedures

FEES: Course and supervision fees will be paid by ACCORD. Successful applicants will be required to complete 100 hours counselling with ACCORD clients during training and thereafter will be required to complete an agreed number of counselling sessions on a voluntary basis while working with ACCORD
