Therapy and supervision SESSIONS using telephone and video communication DURING PERIOD OF COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS)
Re: Therapy and supervision SESSIONS using telephone and video communication DURING PERIOD OF COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS)
Dear Members
In light of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, where it becomes necessary for reasons of personal and community safety, IAHIP will formally recognise “video and telephone communication” but not other forms of electronic communication (e.g. WhatsApp) for therapy and supervision sessions carried out by IAHIP psychotherapists and supervisors for the duration of this epidemic. Please inform yourselves as to the safest means of communication with your clients / supervisees. You may also need to check with your insurers before commencing therapy using the above methods. Please ensure your ongoing supervision and support.
Such hours will also be counted towards accreditation for pre-accredited members or supervisors working towards supervision accreditation for the first time.
The above applies to this period of uncertainty in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and will not be a permanent ruling.
