Authors in Conversation: Michael Feldman discusses Doubt, Conviction, and the Analytic Process with psychoanalyst Rachel Blass

About This Event

In ‘Doubt, Conviction and the Analytic Process,’ Michael Feldman provides a rich and closely observed account of the clinical interactions that unfold within the consulting room.

The conversation will explore themes from this profound study of patient-analyst dynamics, touching on questions of technique and how Feldman has drawn on and developed the ideas of Melanie Klein, Betty Joseph, and others. There will be a particular focus on ‘The Dynamics of Reassurance’ (Chapter 4) and ‘Grievance’ (Chapter 11).

Michael Feldman is a Training and Supervising Analyst of the British Psychoanalytical Society and Chair of the Melanie Klein Trust. He is highly regarded for his contribution to psychoanalytic theory and his keen clinical insight. Doubt, Conviction and the Analytic Process, a selection of his clinical papers, was published by Routledge in 2009.

Rachel Blass is a Training and Supervising Analyst of the Israel Psychoanalytic Society and a Member of the British Psychoanalytical Society. She is well known for her prolific writings that clarify, ground, and enrich Kleinian thinking and practice.

The event will be chaired by Kay Long, Training and Supervising Analyst with the Western New England Institute for Psychoanalysis and co-editor of The Klein Tradition (Routledge, 2018).

All registered attendees will receive a discount code for 25% off the book price, and, a few days after the event, a link to a recording of the webinar, which will be available to view for one month. Please note, after this time the recording will no longer be available.
