Join us on Friday evening, April 21st to celebrate and explore Kevin Murphy’s recently published book, Asexuality and Freudian-Lacanian Psychoanalysis: Towards a Theory of an Enigma (2023). In this compelling and richly researched work, Kevin draws on the libido theory of Freud and Lacan to give an account of asexuality which is “the experience of having no sexual attraction to another person.” The book contributes new understandings to this aspect of sexuality, adding to the range and breadth of what is means to be a sexual being.
In the seminar, Kevin will read short extracts from the book. This will be followed by a conversation about the book’s themes and Q&A with the audience. Copies of Kevin’s book will be available for sale.
The seminar will be of interest to clinical practitioners, psychotherapists, and students of contemporary sexuality. All are welcome, attendance in person or by Zoom.
Bio: Kevin Murphy (PhD) is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist practicing in Dublin. He is a RegPract member of APPI and a member of ICP.
