UPDATE Counselling in Primary Schools Pilot

Minister Foley Announces Funding for Wellbeing and Mental Health Supports in Post-Primary Schools

Dear Registrant,

Following from our correspondence with the Department of Education, we are delighted to advise you that they will now be accepting applications from our registered members who are accredited psychotherapists of one of the four sections within the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (i.e., the 10 accrediting psychotherapy bodies), and who meet the criteria as outlined in the Terms & Conditions of the Department of Education’s Counselling in Primary Schools Pilot 2023-25.

Please find below the links to the Advert, Application Form and Terms & Conditions. Applications to be placed on the Counselling in Primary Schools Pilot panel is now ongoing, throughout the school year.

The Department of Education launched a Primary Schools’ Pilot Counselling programme last summer.

This programme is up and running and the Department is now seeking more involvement from Psychotherapists and Counsellors. The Department is accepting members on a rolling, continuous basis.

This initiative is important in beginning to address the gap in resources that school principals, families and psychotherapists are so familiar with.

All information pertaining to the Counselling in Primary Schools Pilot is available at the  dedicated webpage here. The criteria for inclusion on the panel is available in the Terms and Conditions for Psychotherapist and Counsellors, which has recently been updated, and the application is available here.  The FAQs for psychotherapists and counsellors can be found here.

The team are keen to offer help and support in answering any of your questions
